    <title>My Ai Rig (2x3090)</title>
    <description>
I got interested in running LLM's locally all the way back when he first LLama "leak" happened. Running them on my laptop, then on my gaming desktop (3070), then adding a 3060 12Gb so I could both run image generation and LLM's at the same time. However, as LLM's are getting better, I decided to put a bit more money into building an AI rig.

    <title>My Industrial Sewing Machine (Juki TR-7)</title>
    <description>
Last year I bought a boat - a Paper Tiger catamaran. This summer it's been great fun, but it's trampoline is getting fairly worn. So I decided to make a new one, and my sewing machine wasn't quite up to the task of getting through heavy fabric. A friend messaged me one evening saying "there's a sewing machine for free just out of town"...

    <title>Openclaw is revolutionary - but mostly to non-software-developers</title>
    <description>
Online, there are two camps about openclaw. One camp ays it's the best thing since sliced bread, the other says it's a crazy insecure fad. I think it's both.

    <title>An Anemometer</title>
    <description>
I've been doing a bunch of sailing recently, and even though I live near the where we lanch, I have a hard time gauging how the wind is going to be in a repeatable way. New Zealands weather service do have a wind report, but it only updates hourly, and in this region the wind often picks up in the afternoon as a thermally generated sea breeze - so an hour can make a lot of difference. Well, 3D printing to the rescue.....

    <title>Why arduino is the best HAL</title>
    <description>
Let's face it, Arduino is one of the most used (by number of users) embedded development environments. Why is this?

    <title>Disposable Programs</title>
    <description>
I was recently at an acrobatics festival as the event photographer, and over the weekend I took almost 7000 photos. Most of these are "bursts" of 3-10 photos as I would just press-hold the shutter. Normally I do my photo review in darktable, but it takes a second or so to load a photo. This is very frustrating when trying to pick the best photo of a long burst. So what was I to do? Well, I spent a few hours with an AI and built myself a photo review app.

    <title>Updating my site generator</title>
    <description>
This site is statically generated with a python script that I wrote in 2021. It was a pretty simple script, and as more entries have been added, the user experience has gotten worse. Last week, I fixed that.

    <title>Wire Wrapped Pendant</title>
    <description>
Yesterday afternoon I sat down and did something I haven't done for a while: mad wire wrapped jewellery. I haven't done this for ages, and the last pure wire creation was probably a decade ago (though I have done some with stones etc. in the past year or so). I find it very relaxing doing this sort of thing - I can sit, let my mind wander, and my hands go somewhat on autopilot.

    <title>Evaluating my predictions of AI progress from 2023</title>

Back in 2023 I wrote a document titled "The Future of Engineering". Let's have a read through and see how it stacks up today

    <title>Laser Run Gun Simulator</title>
    <description>n obstacle course racing and modern pentathalon, one of the challenges is to use a gun "simulator" to shoot some targets. Of course, this happens after running, so your hands are shaking! Buying a proper simulator is pretty pricey, and there seems to be a lack of open source alternatives. So I designed a 3D printable laser simulator that mostly complies with the UIPM's regulations. It's a bit undersize for pentathalon, and the laser module is uncertified, but other than that it's pretty close. </description>
